Are You Ready for Some Flag Football??
At St. Pius V School, we do our best to offer a wide variety of before- and after-school programs. This year, we will be offering a few new opportunities, beginning with our brand new Flag Football team!
SPV recently joined a non-contact flag footbal league with several other Catholic schools in the area. 6th-8th grade students are working hard to be The Pride of Pius, practicing twice a week and playing at least one game every Friday.
The season kicked off last Friday night with games against three different schools in one evening. The Pride were triumphant, winning two of the three games. Thanks to their coaches, SPV 6th grade teacher Eduardo Diaz
and parent volunteer Jorge Trejo, the team is starting to perform like pros. Passing, punting and a great running game, the team has it all! We look foward to seeing team members improve both on and off the field.
At St. Pius V, we believe that that students' out-of-school time is just as important as their in-school time. The programs that we offer before and after school each day are designed to both enrich students' lives and to help them achieve academic excellence. Along with our traditional offerings of Tutoring, Soccer, Yearbook and Running Club, we will now be offering Flag Football and Technology Club after school and Chess Club before school.
Students are able to arrive at SPV as early as 7:30am and after-school activities run as late as 6:00pm. This ensures that our children are safe and active throughout the day and that their parents are able to drop them off and pick them up at times that are more convenient for the whole family.
We hope that the Flag Football team has a safe, successful season and that the lessons they learn on the field lead to excellence in the classroom. Good luck to all of our students this year no matter what activity they choose. You are all members of The Pride and we are very proud of you.
